The Holiday Season has come and gone and we all are finding ourselves looking into our overpacked closet and thinking.. “Gee, did I even wear that this year?” The new clothes you bring home don’t even have a spot in that closet now. It’s full of the clothes you thought you would wear but then never did.. that’s okay; us too !! Now it’s time to get real and think about how we can make some space and what is worth the purchase in January after the Holiday spending.

General rule of thumb : If you look at an article of clothing and can’t even remember when you wore it last, donate it !! It’s amazing how many things you can find in your closet that are hardly used and frankly you don’t even know they are there half the time !! These hidden items that are collecting dust; you obviously lived without before… so, DONATE IT !!

Purge for the new year… it feels so good..

If you have friends or family that can benefit from your lightly worn clothes - hand it down !! 

This can be as simple as folding bulky sweaters instead of hanging them or rearranging and organizing by articles of clothing, or even by color !! Try gathering all of your long sleeve shirts and hang them together, same for your short sleeves shirts etc. This can can often make you realize how much of one thing you have as well. Imagine hanging up 10 long sleeve black shirts.. do you really need ALL OF THOSE? Not only can it allow you to realize what you need to get rid of, it will also tell you what you should stop buying because you already have plenty of that style, color, fit etc. 

Most often, January is when most companies big and small will be doing end of year sales. Every business has a different strategy and can be doing this at different times, however you can usually find some kind of Winter or End of Year Sale in the clothing world. This is a great time for those bargain shoppers to get out and find some good deals !!  While you are out shopping, here are a few January Essentials that are worth the purchase :
